It's a new year, and although warmer months may seem far away, it's good to start planning for the summer now. Most summer programs have application or registration deadlines in the winter months. Now may be a good time to start planning for the coming school break. UltiCareer is a site dedicated to exploring career options, so we did some searching and compiled a list of career oriented camps that you may wish to consider. Some of these camps can fill up quickly, so it’s best to start considering your options early.
1. Career Camps at CVCC, Brecksville OH, High School Students
Cuyahoga Valley Career Center in Ohio offers weeklong summer camp programs in topics such as programming and video game design.
2. STEM Careers Camp, DeKalb IL, High School Students
Northern Illinois University faculty and staff, as well as other local professionals, will offer courses on coding, engineering, health sciences, physical sciences, physical sciences, and video game design.
3. Envision Experience, Various Locations, Grades 3-12
The Envision Experience has programs all over, but mostly in Washington D.C. Their programs are designed to be fun and engaging, and are offered on a range of topics like video game technology, medical studies, engineering, law, and criminal forensics.
4. MSOE Summer Programs, Milwaukee WI, High School Students
The Milwaukee School of Engineering provides students an opportunity to determine if engineering, nursing, or business might be fields that interest them. These are residential, weeklong summer programs.
5. Samford’s Summer Career Oriented Camps, Birmingham AL, High School and College Freshman
Samford offers a wide variety of summer programs to help students explore which fields they might be interested in. Some topics include health, law, science, technology, engineering, math, and debate.
6. Health Care Summer Camp, Evansville IN, High school
Southwest Indiana Area Health Education Center offers day camp programs for regional high school students interested in career possibilities in the healthcare field.
7. CNM Summer Camp, Albuquerque NM, Grades 6-12
Central New Mexico Community College introduces students to STEM studies in a creative and engaging way that generates curiosity.
8. Wake Tech’s Summer Camps, Raleigh NC
Wake Tech’s Summer Camps offer a wide variety of topics based on varying grade and age levels. Their programs are designed to incite interest and encourage students to explore various career options.
9. Sea Camp, Galveston TX, Ages 10-18
This is a weeklong residential camp at Texas A&M University focusing on oceanography. Students will have access to research vessels, oceanographic equipment, laboratory facilities, and a professional staff.
10. Prairie View A&M University Summer Camps, Prairie View TX, 17 and under
Prairie View offers summer camps in a variety of topics, including STEM topics and architecture.
11. Malone University Summer Camp, Canton OH, High School
At Malone University, students will explore different topics while making new friends. Topics include computer science, creative writing, zoo & wildlife biology, nursing, and music.
12. Explo, New Haven CT and Wellesley MA, Grades 2-12
Explo, at Yale University and Wellesley College respectively, offer not just summer camps, but winter and spring classes as well. Students can explore music, science, sports management, entertainment, culinary, medical science, and more.
13. GADgET, River Grove IL, Girls Ages 12-16
GADgET is a summer program funded by the Nuts, Bolts, and Thingamajigs Foundation of Fabricator Manufactures Association. It introduces young girls to the field of manufacturing through first-hand experiences. Girls will learn how to use CAD, entrepreneurship skills, teamwork, and academic requirements for manufacturing careers.
14. SCTCC Youth Programs, St. Cloud MN, Middle and High School
St. Cloud Technical and Community College provides youth programming throughout the year, including summer camps with topics like health careers, automotive, electronics, and athletics.
15. Husson Pharmacy and Media Camps, Bangor ME, 11th and 12th grade
Husson University in Maine offers a pharmacy camp, and a media camp for high school students.
16. Aviation Summer Camp, Kalamazoo MI, Ages 13-17
Western Michigan University partners with the Air Zoo to run a weeklong summer camp focusing on aviation.
17. Stanford Medicine Summer Outreach, Stanford CA, High School
High school students interested in careers in science or medicine will find the Stanford Medicine Summer Programs interesting and enlightening.
18. Schoolcraft College Kids on Campus, Livonia MI, Preschool-Grade 12
Schoolcraft College offers opportunities for kids to participate in hands-on learning experiences with access to computers, math, cultural immersion, acting, the arts, science, writing, and other career-oriented learning opportunities.
19. MV Code Club, Various Locations, Ages 7-14
MV Code Club offers courses year round, and aims to provide a fun and educational experience. Campers are taught to use computational logic, creativity, and collaboration to build their own video games, Minecraft plugins, websites, and robots.
20. Merritt Kids College, Oakland CA, Grades 6-9
At Merritt College kids will participate in a variety of hands-on experiences taught by full-time Merritt instructors. Some topics include landscape horticulture, microscopy, administration of justice, nutrition, and nursing.
21. Healthcare Summer Program, Various Locations, Grades 10-12
Western Kentucky University hosts this program across several different college campuses. Students will get to experience living in a college dorm and learn about medicine and careers in the health field.
22. Zoo Careers Camp, Fort Worth TX, Ages 14-18
High school students with an interest in working with animals will love this camp. A sleep-away camp, at Zoo Careers Camp students will learn about careers in zoology.
23. Star League, Irvine CA, Ages 12+
University of California Irvine hosts summer camps focusing on math, computer, science, physics, robotics, and college prep.
