What do you want to be when you grow up? We created UltiCareer to help answer this common question. The career options that people consider often fall into a very narrow range of choices. If you ask people their professional career considerations, you can generally expect to hear doctor, lawyer, or maybe an accountant. Particularly girls and young women tend to focus on careers in nursing and teaching, which are relatively stereotypical opportunities. Young men not seeking opportunities in the white-collar professional arena may consider construction, auto repair, or maybe military service. While all of these are fine and respectable occupations, the reality is they’re only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to career options.

The other day I started creating a list of job titles. I did a few quick Google searches and soon had a list of close to 5,000 different occupations. Let’s help everyone look beyond the career options they’re familiar with. Encourage job seekers to cast a broader net and look at the wide variety of opportunities in the marketplace by submitting your story on UltiCareer. While you’re at it, tell other people to submit their perspective as well. No two jobs are alike and a variety of stories will help job seekers gain insight into what a day in the life of your job is really like.

Together we can build this into a valuable resource for our family members, our community, and ourselves. With your help, UltiCareer can enable anyone to explore the broad wealth and variety of opportunities that exist so that hopefully anyone can find a career that they find truly rewarding.

on UltiCareer to help others on their job search, get to know what your type of job is really like.
